Oil Acid Value Test Strips

These test strips offer a convenient qualitative and semi-quantitative method for determining the acid value of edible oils. The reagents immobilised on the strip react chemically with the target components in the oil sample and produce a clear colour change that is read directly against the supplied colour chart.

Analytes in the oil undergo ion-exchange and other chemical reactions with the reagents on the pad, forming chromogenic compounds. Different concentrations produce different reaction extents, so the shade and tone of the colour indicate the acid-value level across the scale 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 mg/g expressed as KOH.

Usage is simple: immerse the coloured reaction zone fully in the oil for 2 seconds, remove without shaking off the excess oil, let the strip rest for 90 seconds, then compare the developed colour (blue to green to yellow) under bright, uniform light.
