The ThermoPro TP710 combines two probes in one instrument: a fold-away probe (Probe 1) for quick instant-read checks and a plug-in wired probe (Probe 2) for continuous monitoring of food inside the oven, grill or smoker. Both probes are made of 304 stainless steel, and the wired probe can also be used to measure the ambient temperature of ovens and barbecues.

The NTC sensor covers -58 to 572 °F (-50 to 300 °C) with a tolerance of ±1.8 °F (±1.0 °C) from 14 to 212 °F (-10 to 100 °C) and ±1.5% outside that span. The display refreshes every second and a reading settles in about 3-4 seconds.

Target temperatures recommended by the USDA for poultry, pork, lamb, beef (rare, medium, well done) and fish are pre-programmed and can be adjusted in SET mode; an alarm sounds when the food reaches the target. The unit runs on a single AAA battery and has a built-in magnet.
