The CC-511 is a benchtop laboratory meter that measures electrical conductivity (EC), salinity and temperature, and can also determine total dissolved solids (TDS). Its large LCD shows the measured function and the temperature at the same time.

Conductivity is measured up to 1000 mS/cm over 5 sub-ranges that are switched automatically (autorange). Salinity is expressed as NaCl up to 250 g/l or as KCl up to 200 g/l, and is calculated from conductivity according to the real curve rather than a constant coefficient. The meter is calibrated by entering the cell constant K in the range 0.010 to 19.999 cm-1 or by determining it in a standard solution.

The set includes the CT2B-121 temperature probe with a Pt-1000B resistor and the ECF-1 conductivity cell with a range of 0 to 400 mS/cm, which is sufficient for conductivity measurements in the majority of liquids, e.g. aqueous soil extracts or water containing grease, oil or fat. Its metal electrodes are easy to clean and the plastic housing protects it from mechanical damage. In the range 0 to 100 °C the acceptable error of a probe with a Pt-1000B resistor is ±0.8 °C, and with a Pt-1000A resistor ±0.35 °C.
