According to TFA, excessive indoor humidity (above 65 %) promotes the formation of mould, while air that is too dry is also bad for health. Both gauges are adjusted in the factory; to keep the hygrometer reliable over the long term, TFA recommends regenerating it every 6 months by wrapping it in a damp cloth for 20 minutes, after which it should read between 90 and 99 % RH.
