QAC test strips (QAC test paper) are used to detect the strength of quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs) in sanitizing solutions. The strips cover a test range of 0-500 ppm and are ideal for the food service industry, including the testing of three-compartment sinks.
QAC compounds exhibit microbicidal activity to most microbes at a concentration of 200 ppm. Many different QACs are found in disinfectants and cleaning products; the most commonly used are the benzalkonium chlorides, also known as alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chlorides, abbreviated BAC, BZK, BKC or ADBAC.
The result is read visually by comparing the strip with the colour chart printed on the bottle label.
