The Megger DET24C belongs to a new generation of clamp-on earth/ground resistance testers. It induces a test current into the earth system and measures ground resistance in multi-ground installations without needing to disconnect the ground, from 0.05 Ω to 1500 Ω. It also offers a true RMS AC current measurement facility from 0.5 mA up to 35 A: checking the current flowing in an earth cable is an important safety step before the cable is disconnected, since a high current flow to earth could draw an arc on disconnection.

Flat core ends prevent dirt build-up, ensuring measurement integrity and better reliability than jaws with interlocking teeth, and a built-in filter function improves noise immunity in electrically noisy environments. The elliptical head improves access in space-constrained locations and accommodates cables up to 37 mm in diameter and earth tapes up to 50 mm, making the clamp suitable for power stations, substations, towers, buildings, pylons and RF transmitter sites, as well as for inspecting and verifying lightning protection systems and virtually any installation where a current loop can be generated. The clamp-on stakeless tester can also be used to balance elements of a ground to mitigate noise, balance ground circuits and check the continuity of ground circuits in headends and hubs.

A backlit display and an audible tone on the hold key make work in dark and restricted areas easier. The DET24C stores results in memory, each indexed with a sequential serial number and a time and date stamp, and downloads them via Bluetooth® to a PC running Megger PowerDB or PowerDB Lite acceptance and maintenance test data management software.
