Draminski HMM Hay and Straw Moisture and Temperature Meter

The Draminski HMM, made by DRAMIŃSKI S.A. in Poland, is a handheld instrument for estimating the moisture content of baled hay and straw. It measures changes in the electrical conductivity of the material around the probe electrodes, converts them into a moisture reading in percent on the LCD, and also shows the temperature measured by a sensor in the probe tip.

Knowing moisture content is essential for producing high-quality hay, for safer storage and for preventing damage to the harvested crop, because excessive moisture leads to fungal attack and rot. It is equally valuable when buying and selling forage, as moisture is the major factor affecting crop quality and therefore its value.

The meter is available in two versions that measure and are maintained in exactly the same way: HMM with a detachable probe on a 140 cm connection cable, and HMM FIX with the probe fixed to the electronic unit. For reliable results, take readings at several points of a densely packed bale, including its sides and ends; windrows and loose hay or straw should not be tested.
