The Casella CEL-712 Microdust Pro is a rugged, hand-held, data logging instrument for the real-time detection of airborne dusts and aerosols. It auto-ranges from 0.001 mg/m³ to 250 g/m³ with a resolution of 0.001 mg/m³, and shows real-time instantaneous and average levels on a graphical display while storing them to memory for later review. It can be used indoors and outdoors.
The instrument is designed for spot checks and walk-through surveys, showing instantly when and where excessive dust levels occur. A measurement takes three steps: switch on, calibrate with one button press, then press the play key. The Microdust Pro is factory calibrated in a wind tunnel using ISO 12103-1 A2 Fine test dust (Arizona road dust equivalent), and each probe is supplied with its own unique Calibration Insert that creates a known optical scattering effect in the sampling chamber to confirm the factory calibration point on site; annual factory recalibration is recommended. With an optional Apex2 air sampling pump and gravimetric adaptor, the user can obtain a correction factor for the actual type of dust being measured.
The memory holds 86,000 data points (500 measurement runs), which are downloaded over the supplied USB cable to Casella Insight Data Management Software for analysis and reporting. The instrument runs for approximately 13 hours on 3 x AA batteries, or from 12 VDC through the optional CEL-PC18 power supply.
