The SM150T from Delta-T Devices measures soil moisture and soil temperature with research-grade accuracy. Its patented sensor electronics give a highly dependable sensor with exceptional salinity and temperature stability. Moisture accuracy is 3% after soil-specific calibration, and the built-in temperature sensor achieves 0.5°C accuracy.
The SM150T is a dual-purpose probe: it can be used portably for instant moisture readings, or left installed in the soil for continuous logging of moisture and temperature. Installed sensors can be logged by any Delta-T data logger and by many loggers from other manufacturers through the simple 0-1 V output. For portable work it is available as the SM150 Kit with the HH150 readout meter and a carry case (the HH150 does not show temperature from the SM150T); where PC data download is required, the SM150T is used with the HH2 Moisture Meter.
The sensor is built to withstand long-term burial: the sensor, connectors and cable are all environmentally protected to IP68. Its sharp pins minimise soil disturbance and preserve the original soil structure around the measurement rods, and the cylindrical shape makes installation in augered holes easy. With a length of only 143 mm (rods 51 mm) it can also be installed in grow-bags and plant pots. The SM150T sensor is supplied without cable; the cable must be ordered separately.
