The SEW 1620 ER is a microprocessor-controlled 3-wire earth resistance tester with three ranges (40 Ω, 400 Ω, 4 kΩ) and earth voltage measurement up to 400 V. Its 2 mA test current avoids tripping earth leakage breakers; it has a backlit 4000-count LCD, data hold and auto power-off.
The SEW 1620 ER is a microprocessor-controlled digital tester for measuring earth resistance by the 3-wire method. It covers three ranges, 0–40 Ω, 0–400 Ω and 0–4 kΩ, with a resolution of 0.01 Ω on the lowest range, and it can also measure earth voltage from 0 to 400 V AC (40–500 Hz).
Earth resistance is measured by a constant current inverter at 820 Hz with a test current of approximately 2 mA. This low measuring current permits testing of earth resistance without tripping the earth leakage current breakers in the circuit under test.
Readings are shown on a 3¾ digit (4000 counts) LCD with backlight. The instrument is rated EN 61010-1 CAT IV 400 V, complies with EN 61557-1 and EN 61557-5, and is powered by six 1.5 V AA batteries.
